Chennai COVID: 98% Patients in City not showing Symptoms, Report

Chennai has been one of the worst-affected corona hotspots in the state. So far, 768 people in the city have been inflicted with the virus. Chennai Corporation Commissioner Prakash has now informed that 98 per cent of those inflicted with the virus did not display symptoms.

He also added that business has been temporarily halted at Koyambedu market in order to contain the virus.

With more than 100 positive cases reported in the state on Wednesday, Tamil Nadu has now touched the 2000-mark of the deadly coronavirus case. Currently, the total tally has gone up to 2,162 while the death toll is 27.

As per an Indian Express report, out of the 102 cases reported in the state, 94 are from Chennai itself. Amid the rise in cases, a total of 1,210 patients were discharged after treatment across Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, the state’s recovery rate is 56 per cent and the mortality rate stands at 1.25 per cent. Reports also suggest that the highest number of cases have been reported between the age group 13 to 60.

With the continuous rise in cases, the state government had issued a four-day lockdown in Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore corporations. So far, 25 districts are categorised as ‘Hot Spots’ in Tamil Nadu and have been also placed in the Red Zone while 11 districts are in the Orange Zone. Krishnagiri is the only district in the Green Zone.
