Days after incidents of violence in the national caption that has shocked the world, actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth strongly condemned and slammed the central government for the Delhi violence.

Rajinikanth sent out a strong message to the Union government stating that violence in northeast Delhi was an intelligence failure.

While speaking to media at his Poes Garden residence in Chennai, Rajinikanth said protest in any form should not turn violent. "It is an intelligence failure and hence home ministry also failed. Protests can happen peacefully but not in a violent manner. If violence breaks out, it should be dealt with iron hands,” ANI quoted Rajinikanth as saying.

Further giving his opinion on media and political observers, who are linking him with BJP;  Rajinikanth said that "With iron fist, this should be crushed, else (they) should resign and go..what is this..it is becoming too much. Immediately I am being branded as the BJP’s mouthpiece, that the BJP is behind me, especially some senior journalists and political observers,” PTI quoted Rajinikanth as saying.

When asked about how deadly CAA, NRC and NPR could be; Rajinikanth said, "I said if Muslims are affected by the CAA, I will stand by them. But as the central government has clarified that it will not implement the NRC (National Register of Citizens), there is no point in creating confusion over it. However, protests should not turn violent."

Hours later, Kamal Haasan congratulated Rajinikanth for his strong statements. He took to twitter saying, "Shabash Rajini. Welcome to this route -- it's not a separate route but the path trodden by an entire race. Welcome and Congrats."
