"I Will Not Be Chief Minister, Will Be Party Head" Rajinikanth On Political Launch
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsAfter years of expressing his wish to enter politics, superstar Rajinikanth on Thursday addressed a press meet to end speculations over whether he would set his own party or join an existing one. While speaking at the press conference, Rajinikanth stressed on education being crucial in politics which gives new and deserving people a chance in his political party.
Further elaborating his political plan, the actor-turned-politician said, "I have never thought of the Chief Minister’s post. I only want a change in politics." He stressed on his party having a separate CM candidate and a separate party leader.
Further, Rajini insisted that this must be the model followed by other political parties in the future to ensure proper governing. “There is a need for fresh blood. All existing political leaders are above 50 years old. Education is not a benchmark. This needs to be changed,” the superstar added.
"We need youngsters who are well educated and those who have a good track record in the area, I will give them a chance and the rest will be people with a good reputation – 30-35%. There are a lot of prominent people like ex-IAS, IPS, judges. I am going to knock on their doors and invite them to join the politics," he finally stated.
During his speech, Rajinikanth took no questions from the audience. He also did not name his upcoming party, or reveal the date of its launch. Earlier in the day, fans gathered outside his Chennai residence in anticipation of the announcement.
