Will Tik Tok be banned...What Govt says?
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsIn the month of April, the Madras High Court has reportedly asked the Centre to ban TikTok since it was 'encouraging pornography'. In the Court order, it was also stated that the app promotes inappropriate content and children who were using mobile could be 'vulnerable to exposure to sexual predators'.
According to India Today, the court order’s publication was quoted as saying, "Inappropriate content was TikTok's dangerous aspect". Further, the report added Madras HC’s statement, "There is a possibility of the children contacting strangers directly,". The Chinese app has been facing severe criticism since it also creates unrest among relationships which extends until death sometimes.
Earlier this year, a 19-year-old painter was reportedly arrested for creating two video clips outside Chennai’s Ashok Nagar police station using the app. More such incidents have alerted even the police officers and lawmakers in Tamil Nadu.
Therefore, in a very recent speech at the state legislative assembly, Mr M Manikandan (AIADMK) who belongs to the Ministry of Information Technology has assured that Tik Tok will be banned soon as reported by Thanthi Tv. Though he has not stated the date, it looks like the ban shall be implemented any time from now since the issue is being escalated to the central according to the reports.
