Voting for second phase begins, Chidambaram, Rajinikanth are early voters

It's a very important day in Tamil Nadu, where almost six crore voters will be exercising their right in the state. In Tamil Nadu, polling is being held in 38 of the 39 Lok Sabha seats. While, polling in Vellore Lok Sabha seat has been cancelled by the Election Commission after recovery of huge amount of cash allegedly from an associate of a DMK leader recently.

According to The Hindu, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Puducherry Chief Minister V.Narayanasmy and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram were among early voters at the booth. While Palaniswami voted in Salem, Chidambaram voted in Sivaganga. Even actor-politician Rajinikanth also voted early this morning at Stella Maris College in Chennai. Actor and founder of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) Kamal Haasan with daughter Shruti Haasan at a polling booth in Chennai's Alwarpet. Kamal Haasan's party is making its debuts in the Lok Sabha Elections.

The polling began at 7:00 a.m. across the State and will end at 6:00 p.m. Media reports also state that, those in queue at 6:00 p.m. will be given tokens by the presiding officer to complete the voting process.  While, in Madurai Parliamentary constituency alone, polling has been extended till 8:00 p.m.

This is the first election in the state after the death of AIADMK's J Jayalalithaa and DMK's M Karunanidhi.
