Palani is one of the popular temple towns in Tamil Nadu where thousands of devotees gather to worship Lord Muruga and everybody returns home with Panchamirtham, which is offered as Prasadam. There are plenty of Panchamirtham shops in Palani where people purchase high quality tastier Panchamirtham which is a mix of five natural substances- banana, cow ghee, jaggery, cardamom and honey.

Earlier this month, the Palani Panchamirtham which is called as 'abhishega prasadham' (food that is a religious offering) was given Geographical Indication (GI) tag. Reportedly that was the first time a temple 'Prasadam' in Tamil Nadu was conferred with a GI tag.
