Online Classes: Minister Warns Action against Schools Violating Govt Norms!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsAfter having announced that private schools must not conduct online classes for students previously, the Tamil Nadu Education Minister on Wednesday announced that private schools can now proceed.
The only rule is that the students and teachers are not supposed to be physically present in the school premises.
However, the Education Minister Sengottaiyan has also announced that Chennai schools must not collect fees for conducting online classes. “We have issued a circular against schools collecting fees in the name of conducting online classes. Chief educational officers are taking action based on complains about fee collection,” he said.
On re-opening of schools, CM Edappadi K Palaniswami said, “We will wait for the COVID-19 crisis to subside and observe the measures taken by other states. A high-level committee meeting headed by chief minister will decide about reopening. There is no urgency.”
Previously Sengottaiyan had introduced an application called “Vagupparai Nokkin” which monitored the number of teachers, students and facilities available on a campus. This app was previously introduced only for Chennai but it is now to be opted by all the districts in Tamil Nadu. This was mandated on Wednesday.
