Chennai Man Cheats Lakhs of Money Using OLX

It has become inevitable to have a constant vigil while making online purchases today, especially due to the numerous loopholes which could benefit fraudsters. OLX is a global online marketplace which helps buyers and sellers across the globe to trade.

Parmil Kumar from Chennai has posted an advertisement of a two-wheeler on OLX to sell along with his contact details. Reportedly the advertisement was seen by one of the youngsters in Maangaadu, Chennai who had contacted Parmil Kumar.

Parmil Kumar had a WhatsApp conversation with the youngster in which he had said that his friend works as an Army officer in Pallavaram Army Camp. Further, Parmil Kumar added his friend was getting transferred to Kashmir and he wanted to sell his bike. The deal was closed for 60 thousand rupees and the youngster had sent 5000 rupees as an initial payment as per Parmil's request.

After a while, the youngster developed suspicion on Parmil's activities and raised a complaint against him at the Greater Chennai Commissioner office. During the investigation, it was revealed that Parmil Kumar had cheated lakhs of money from 17 people using the OLX platform.
