The ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu has expelled party coordinator and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam's brother O Raja, from the primary membership of the party.

According to a report in Times of India, a joint press statement signed by Panneerselvam and chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami said that the functionary was removed on charges of anti-party activities.

Raja has been removed "for having acted against the party’s principles and ideologies, and for bringing disrepute to the party," read the joint statement.  "None of the cadres should have any truck with him," the statement added.
