'Laabam' director SP Jananathan passes away; Industry in shock! - RIP

News has come in that National Award winning director SP Jananathan has passed away today. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The director was working on the edits of his latest film 'Laabam' which stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead when his assistants found the filmmaker unconscious at his residence, post which he was immediately taken to a private hospital in Chennai.

A team of doctors who began to attend to Jananathan, said that the filmmaker had suffered a brain hemorrhage. Unfortunately, Jananathan didn't respond to the treatment, and passed away today post suffering a cardiac arrest.

His sudden death has come as a huge shock to everyone who had known him and had been associated with him. Starting his career with the 2003 drama Iyarkai, for which he won a National Award, his popular films include E, Peranmai and Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai.

Laabam, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan in the lead, would be his swan song and from the looks of the trailer and everything, seems like the director was poised to shine light on some serious societal issues before fate intervened in such a cruel manner. Many fans and celebrities have been taking to social media to post their condolences.
