Big Announcement from Microsoft: Company undertakes Massive Layoff! Number of Jobcuts and other Details
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsMicrosoft Corp announced on Thursday that the firm has trimmed its workforce across different offices and teams since they are entering a new fiscal year from July.
News agency Reuters reported that the firm has declined to elaborate on the number of jobs, roles of the employees and their locations. However, Business Insider cited in its report that the company has cut around 1,000 jobs across its business this week.
The company has reportedly fired employees in its online news portal MSN.com and has shifted it to an AI- powered algorithmic feed and has also cut down jobs in Microsoft Azure cloud division.
Last month, the company announced that it is going to be closing all its retail stores and take a related pre-tax asset impairment charge of $450 million amid the ongoing pandemic.
The spokesperson told the media that re-evaluating the company’s business before entering a new fiscal year is common.
“Late in April, Microsoft’s third-quarter results beat Wall Street sales and profit expectations, powered by sharp demand for its Teams chat and online meeting app and Xbox gaming services as the world shifted to working from home because of the pandemic,” Reuters reported.
Microsoft had cut thousands of jobs during the same period in 2017 since the company had undertaken a reorganization which impacted the sales and marketing teams.
