Vaiko was en route to Krishnagiri when he took a pitstop at Ambur on the Chennai-Bengaluru national highway. The party unit of the town gave him a warm welcome by bursting crackers and shouting slogans. They also jostled to get a picture clicked with him. However, Vaiko signed asking for money whenever someone approaches and ignored the requests of those who do not pay.
The video footage of the happening has gone viral on social media.
The MDMK headquarters had recently announced that people who want to take a selfie/picture with its general secretary Vaiko will have to pay a donation of rupees 100.
