Photos Viral! Madurai Woman Lives In Public Toilet For 19 Years; Internet Demands Support

The senior citizen has been identified as Karuppayi, who somehow managed to stay in a toilet for the past 19 years. Currently, photos of her has gone viral that are so heart-breaking.
As per ANI news agency, Karuppayi earns a living by cleaning the toilets - a job that brings her Rs. 70-80 per day. She has been surviving and earning her livelihood by cleaning the toilets.
In the photos that have gone viral, one can see how Karuppayi stays in a small public toilet and doesn’t even have the basic necessities to survive.
While speaking to ANI and expressing her ordeal, Karuppayi said, "I applied for senior citizen pension but didn't get it. I approached many officers in Collector's office but nothing materialised."
"I don't have any other source of income. So I live here in this public toilet. I earn Rs 70-80 per day. I've one daughter who never visits me," Karuppayi added and cried.
After her pictures went viral, netizens have come out in large numbers asking for support from the government. Many have also offered help that are pouring in for her.
