Madurai Hospital Cures COVID-19 in 12 Hours! New Record Set – Details
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsRajaji Government Hospital in Madurai has cured a coronavirus patient within 12 hours, thereby setting a record.
While no vaccine has been found to cure the spread of the novel coronavirus, many people who test positive are being treated with Hydroxychloroquine. However, the use of this medicine is also limited as it hasn’t been scientifically proved to cure the virus. Hence, the World Health Organisation has only recommended its use on an experimental basis.
In many parts of the country, hospitals have been getting permission from the centre to perform plasma therapy for critical patients. Previously, Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai were among the places where recovered patients were invited to donate their plasma. While many surgeries were highly successful, the centre is strict about performing this therapy as it can cost the life of the patient if something goes wrong.
Under a similar situation, Madurai’s Rajaji Hospital performed plasma surgery on a 54-year-old, who was cured within 12 hours of the surgery. This was reported by the hospital on Tuesday. Following a successful surgery, the hospital will continue to take up more critical patients for the therapy as per the centre’s guidelines.
