Boy From Tamil Nadu Diagnosed With 'New Disease' That WHO Was Raising Concern Amidst COVID-19 Crisis!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsWhile India is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, another shocking news is making headlines after an eight-year-old boy from Tamil Nadu's Chennai city has become India’s first case of Kawasaki Syndrome.
This is an acute illness which takes place because of hyper-inflammatory syndrome that is associated with the coronavirus disease. This syndrome describes inflammation in the entire body of the individual, including vital organs, that leads to multiorgan failure and shock.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the young boy has became India’s first case of the hyper-inflammatory syndrome. Currently, the cause of the infection is unknown and is usually seen in Asia.
The child, who had tested positive for COVID-19, was in a critical condition and later rushed to Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital in Chennai. Soon after being, admitted into the intensive care unit (ICU) due to toxic shock syndrome and Kawasaki disease; his body caused inflammation of blood vessels, Hindustan Times further reported.
The boy has recovered completely after two weeks of staying in the ICU.
Highlighting about the Kawasaki symptoms, this include continuous high fever, rash, red cracked lips, red tongue, swollen eyes, hands and feet, and enlarged lymph nodes in the neck.
Earlier in the month, World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus opened up on this syndrome stating that Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children may be related to COVID-19.
This disease is currently a life-threatening one that affects many important organs of the body at the same time.
