However, he added that he will "watch out for the details to see how the poorest of my country get their due at last".
PM Modi said the economic package will be 10 per cent of India's GDP.
“I announce a special economic package today. This will play an important role in the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan'. The earlier announcements made by the government over COVID, decisions of RBI and today's package comes to Rs 20 lakh crores. This is 10% of India's GDP," said PM Modi.
Reacting to this, Kamal Haasan took to Twitter saying: We all agree on 2 things with you Mr. Prime Minister. The poor are suffering the most in this crisis and being self-reliant is the future. While we welcome the economic package, I will watch out for the details to see how the poorest of my country get their due atlast.
PM Modi also said that there will be another lockdown and that will be completely different from the previous ones. Announcement on the same will be made before 18 May.
