Quarantine Compulsory for Chennai Visitors? - Chennai Corporation Commissioner Updates!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu news Chennai authorities on Tuesday, made new announcements with regards to the institutional quarantine period for those who enter the city from other districts of the state. The mandatory 14-day home quarantine has now been revoked.
Officials have announced that those who enter Chennai from other states and abroad will now have to enter a self-imposed home quarantine and no fixed institutional quarantine period will be mandated. Chennai has recorded 1.36 lakh cases and around 2,770 deaths have been recorded so far. But, the testing numbers in Chennai have increased.
Greater Chennai Corporation’s Commissioner Prakash said that the number of tests is about 1.20 lakh tests per million. “This is the highest testing rate for any such city in the country. On a daily basis, we are testing 12,500 to 13,000 people in the city region. As we are relaxing lockdown norms, the crucial part from the health system viewpoint would be maintaining this testing rate…,” he said.
The state has recorded a total of 4.33 lakh cases and around 7,418 deaths have been recorded.
