Victory for Rajinikanth: Income Tax Department WITHDRAWS Cases
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsThe Income Tax Department on Tuesday withdrew three tax case appeals against actor Rajinikanth, filed in 2014, which had sought a penalty of ₹66.21 lakh from the actor for allegedly concealing full particulars of income and providing inaccurate information, reports The Hindu. A bench comprising Justice Vineet Kothari and Justice R Suresh Kumar withdrew the same. The penalty was imposed on the income filed by Rajinikanth for three financial years from 2002-2005. Challenging the same, Rajinikanth approached The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal.
The repeal has come in view of a recent circular that says appeals can be withdrawn for cases below Rs 1 crore. Not just Rajinikanth, similar cases throughout the country and its courts will be withdrawn.
As far as the professional side of things is concerned, Superstar is shooting for Siruthai Siva’s Thalaivar 168, which also has Khushbu, Meena and Keerthy Suresh in pivotal roles.
