Fahima's Father Lists the Number of Suspects for his Daughter's Death

The Suicide case of Kerala based IIT Madras girl Fathima Latheef has grabbed the attention of the Central Government after the father of the victim Abdul Latheef met Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In his recent statement, Abdul numbered the suspects who are responsible for his daughter's demise.

"Home Amit Shah ensured that he would help transfer the case to CBI if needed. Similarly, PM Modi also ensured his support to find the culprits who are responsible for my daughter's suicide," said Abdul. Further, he said that "I suspect 3 professors and 7 students who would be responsible for my daughter's death".

Reportedly the suicide note of Fathima Latheef revealed the name of  "Sudarshan Padmanabhan (Associate Professor of Philosophy, Dept of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Madras)” who had discriminated the girl based on religion. Earlier Abdul Latheef, her father had approached CM Pinarayi Vijayan who also ensured necessary support to the girl's family.

Abdul Latheef had expressed his strong stand to fight against the culprits and was quoted as saying, "My daughter faced casteist and religious discrimination from her faculties. Earlier she said that her name (Muslim name) itself is a problem there,”.

Meanwhile, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has sent a letter to TN Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to take a look into the issue seriously and resolve it as soon as possible. Initially, Fathima's case was handled by Kotturpuram police but later it was transferred to Central Crime Branch and the investigation is underway.
