Health Ministry Identifies 170 Districts as Hotspots, Tamil Nadu's 22 Districts Listed!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsWith the rise in COVID-19 cases in India, the Health Ministry has identified 170 districts in the country as hotspots, while the other 207 districts as potential hotspots.
While addressing the press on coronavirus situation in the country, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health Lav Agarwal said, "Hotspots are those districts which are reporting more number of cases or where the rate of growth of Covid-19 cases is high."
As per an Economic Times report, the containment zone has been divided into sectors with 50 houses each (30 houses in difficult areas).
Below is the list of hotspot districts with high rate of COVID-19 cases and death:
- DELHI: South, South East, Shahdara, West, North, Central, New Delhi, East and South West.
- ANDHRA PRADESH: Kurnool, Guntur, Spsr Nellore, Prakasam, Krishna, Y.S.R, West Godavari, Chittoor, Vishakhapatnam, East Godavari and Anantapur.
- MAHARASHTRA: Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nagpur, Sangli, Ahmednagar, Yavatmal, Aurangabad, Buldhana, Mumbai Suburban, Nashik.
- Chandigarh
- Gujarat: Ahmadabad, Surat, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Vadodara.
- Karnataka- Belagavi, Mysuru, Bengaluru Urban.
- Kerala- Kasaragod, Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram.
- Madhya Pradesh- Indore, Bhopal and Ujjain.
- Punjab- Jalandhar and Pathankot.
- West Bengal- Kolkata, Howrah, 24 Paraganas North and Medinipur East
- Rajasthan: Jaipur, Tonk, Jodhpur, Banswara, Kota, Jhunjhunu, Jaisalmer, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Jhalawar and Bharatpur.
- Tamil Nadu: Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Erode, Vellore, Dindigul, Villupuram, Tiruppur, Theni, Namakkal, Chengalpattu, Madurai, Tuticorin, Karur, Virudhunagar, Kanniyakumari, Cuddalore, Thiruvallur, Thiruvarur, Salem and Nagapattinam.
- Uttar Pradesh: Agra, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Meerut, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur, Shamli, Firozabad and Moradabad.
