Flying out of Chennai in November could prove to be costly. The high demand for tickets has pushed up the fares for most of the domestic and international routes.

As majority of people travel during November, flights to Mumbai, Kolkata, Dubai, Singapore have shot up. Flights on domestic routes are dearer on the eve of Diwali, while travelling to international destinations after Diwali will prove more costly.

The spike in fares comes after the prices were slashed for Puja holidays. Though not being exorbitant, they would be higher than those in October.

"Fares on domestic routes are bound to increase further as there will be demand during Diwali," said Basheer Ahmed of Metro Travels. Popular travel partner Yatra.com attributes the spike to many reasons, including increase in passenger load, surge in fuel prices, price of ATF etc.
