First Death In Tamil Nadu Due To COVID-19; Country's Toll Rises To 11

Hours after the country went into complete lockdown, Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar  took to social media and announced the death of a Covid-19 positive patient in the wee hours of Wednesday. 

Now, the death toll due to the deadly coronavirus in India has increased to 11. The patient, who died in Tamil Nadu, was a 54-year-old man had a medical history of prolonged illness with steroid dependent COPD, uncontrolled diabetes with hypertension. Vijayabaskar said in a tweet; "Despite our best efforts, the #COVID19 +ve Pt at MDU, #RajajiHospital, passed away few minutes back. He had medical history of prolonged illness with steroid dependent COPD, uncontrolled Diabetes with Hypertension."

Earlier in the day, the minister had been giving complete updates and details about the three new cases of coronavirus in the state. Vijayabaskar said in a tweet; "Three new cases of Covid-19 in Chennai. 65-year-old male, who returned from New Zealand admitted to private hospital; 55-year-old female admitted to Kilpauk Medical College and 25-year-old male, who returned from London, admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital [sic]." 

Currently, India has reported 50 fresh cases of novel coronavirus cases taking India’s tally to 560. Check out the tweet below:
