Chennai's Express Avenue shuts down for the day; Here is why

According to reports, popular Chennai mall - Express Avenue in Royapettah shut its doors for visitors on Wednesday. The shutting down is related to the strike taken by water tankers in Chennai.

 

Reportedly private water tankers in Chennai went on a strike yesterday after the Madras High Court banned the illegal extraction of groundwater and streamlining groundwater withdrawal for commercial purposes.

 

Due to the strike, commercial establishments like malls were hit badly. Reportedly, even those supplying packaged drinking water went on a strike today. The strike has hit Chennai citizens badly.
