TN: 2 youths drown after trying to immerse Ganesh idol

The Hindustan Times reports that two youths aged 16 and 22 died while trying to immerse Ganesh idols in Bhavani river on Saturday. Cops said that another 23-year-old from the group of 20 that had gone to immerse the idol was saved. 

The men from Mummurthynagar in neighbouring Tirupur, slipped and fell into the swirling waters while immersing the big idol at Kallipatty village, say media reports. 

About 108 Vinayagar idols kept in different places were taken in a procession and immersed in Cauvery River around 10 pm Saturday.
