DMK men caught thrashing female shopkeepers; Suspended
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsVideo footage of a gang of men beating three women in Pudukkottai district of Tamil Nadu went viral two days ago. Reportedly, one of the assailants, who was a DMK cadre, was suspended today.
The announcement came from the General Secretary of the DMK, K Anbazhagan in the party's mouthpiece Murasoli. The statement read, "P Saravanan, Thirumayam Zonal Secretary from Pudukkottai South district, has been temporarily suspended from the primary membership of the party and all party posts for behaving in a manner that breaches party discipline and bringing disrepute to the party."
The men had reportedly won a bid to sell coconuts near Bhairavar temple in Thirumayam area and tried to stop the women from selling coconuts near their shop. In the video, three women could be standing near a petty shop and attempting to fight with the men. As their fight escalated, the men grabbed items from their shop and threw it on the road. They then thrashed the three women.
The women were identified as Vasuki, Gowri and Rajam. The three were admitted to the local government hospital. The women even alleged that the men had taken away Rs 20,000 that was kept in their shop.
