It has been reported that some cadres have been misusing Karunanidhi's ill-health and demanding undue favours from shopkeepers. One such incident came to fore when a DMK functionary named Yuvaraj and about 10 of his aides attacked a biryani shop in Virugambakkam, Chennai and demanded free food.
Following the scuffle where hotel staff was beaten up, the party announced that Yuvaraj has been temporarily suspended.
