'Will the Diwali Holidays be extended in Tamil Nadu?' Education Minister Responds
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsOne of the biggest festivals celebrated by the commoners in the state is Diwali and people expect a fair number of holidays to celebrate the festival. However, as per Tamil Nadu Government's official calendar, the Diwali holiday for 2019 is marked only on October 27 (Sunday).
As per TOI report, some of the parents anticipate Saturday to be a holiday as well so that they could make plans to visit their native places.
Meanwhile, Education Department officials told that the overall plan of the calendar is to ensure a minimum number of working days (210 days per academic year).
Reportedly, school Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan said that the request to extend Diwali holidays would be taken to the concern of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy for him to make a call.
