Cyclone Nivar: Chennai Suburban Train Timing to Weather Forecast For Next 5 Days; All Details Here!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsAfter the deadly Cyclone Nivar crossed the coast near Puducherry in the early hours of Thursday morning, it seems to have weakened into a cyclonic storm over coastal Tamil Nadu and it is set to further weaken in the coming hours into a deep depression.
With this cyclone, nearly three people have died and at least 2.25 lakh people, including 39,886 children, have been sheltered in 3,042 government relief camps due to cyclone Nivar in Tamil Nadu.
According to an Indian Express report, the cyclone crossed the coast from 2330 IST on November 25 to 0230 IST of November 26 with estimated wind speeds of 120-130 kmph. IMD further stated that the cyclone would continue to move north-northwest wards and is expected to further weaken to a cyclonic storm.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami visited a relief camp in Devanampattinam of Cuddalore district to meet people affected by Cyclone Nivar. He is also distributing relief materials among them.
Among the worst affected areas in Chennai- Ram Nagar in Velachery, parts of Madipakkam, Puzhuthivakkam, Pulianthope and KK Nagar are completely waterlogged. Taking a look at the damages caused by the cyclone, due to heavy rains and gusty winds many huts, houses, electric poles and crops have been affected in parts of Vellore, Tirupathur and Ranipet districts.
As per Southern Railway information, special suburban trains for workmen, a section of corporation workers and media will be resumed in a phased manner. These trains will operate from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
