Cuddalore Becomes the New COVID-19 Hotspot of TN, Numbers Spike as 68 new Cases get Detected Today!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsWhile Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu has been witnessing a spike in the total number of COVID-19 positive cases, 68 new cases have been confirmed as positive cases, today.
Tamil Nadu has been seeing a spike in the graph of the total number of coronavirus cases in the past week. As of May 04, the state has recorded 3,550 positive cases. While Chennai has been contributing majorly to this number, the Koyambedu market is identified to be a major hotspot. Since the vegetables and fruits market in this area functioned after the commencement of the nation-wide lockdown, a huge population of people continued to travel in and out of this market. Further, a large number of vendors were also actively present in the market. It has been identified that those who travelled from this hotspot to the other districts in Tamil Nadu are largely testing positive for the infection.
Cuddalore district recorded 107 positive coronavirus cases, yesterday. Adding to that number, another 68 people today have tested positive for the virus. However, from those who have tested positive in this district, a majority of the population have travelled from the Koyambedu market.
Cuddalore has recorded 228 positive cases. Including today’s numbers, a total of 197 people in Cuddalore have tested positive after they travelled from Koyambedu.
