COVID-19: Two Deaths, 72 New Positive Cases in Tamil Nadu; Details Listed

Tamil Nadu on Friday, 24 April, reported 72 new cases of COVID-19 taking the total number of cases in the state 1755. Of the 72 new cases, 52 were from Chennai alone.

The state’s death toll rose to 22 after it reported two deaths on the date.

The following is the COVID-19 statistics of Tamil Nadu as of 24 April:

Total number of passengers under home quarantine – 25,503

Total number of passengers in government quarantine facilities – 19

Total number of functioning COVID-19 testing facilities – 34 (23 government and 11 private)

Total number of samples tested till date – 72,403

Total number of samples tested today – 6426

Total number of persons tested till date – 65,834

Total number of persons tested today – 5882

Total number of suspected individuals in isolation ward admission – 1846

Total number of patients discharged following treatment till date– 866

Total number of patients discharged following treatment today – 114

Total number of active cases on date - 864

Total number of deaths till date - 22

Number of ventilators available – 3371

Number of isolation beds available – 29,074
