COVID-19: CM Edappadi Palanisamy Suggests Lockdown Extension During Meeting with PM!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsTamil Nadu: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy has suggested an extension of the ongoing lockdown during today’s discussion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi so that the gains from the implementation of the measure are not lost after the restrictions are lifted, Chief Secretary Shanmugam told reporters today.
The state government will abide by the final call taken by PM Modi, he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier held a discussion with chief ministers of all states and the Union territories.
Meanwhile, several states including Maharashtra, Punjab, Odisha, West Bengal and others had already announced the extension of lockdown.
Hours before this announcement, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal through a tweet had hinted that the PM has decided to extend the nationwide lockdown.
Tamil Nadu as of 11 April has reported 969 cases of Coronavirus. Ten people have succumbed to the virus in the state so far.
