COVID-19 Chennai: Area-Wise Breakup of Cases, Recoveries, and Containment Zones as of May 8

Under lockdown, with various containment zones, Chennai’s cases continue to increase in number. While Chennai recorded its highest number of cases in 24 hours, yesterday, there have been several recoveries. 316 new cases from across the city have been recorded as of May 08, 8:00 am.

Area-wise Breakup of Positive cases:

Kodambakkam – 461

Thiru-Vika-Nagar – 448

Royapuram – 422

Teynampet – 316

Anna Nagar – 206

Valasaravakkam – 205

Tondiarpet – 184 

Ambattur – 144

Adyar – 107

Thiruvottiyur – 43  

Madhavaram – 33

Perungudi – 22

Alandur – 16

Sholinganallur – 15 

Manali – 14

Totally 2644 cases have been reported in Chennai and 2255 people are currently hospitalised for treatment. 23 deceased persons are from Royapuram (8), Thiru-Vika-Nagar (4), Anna Nagar (5), Valasaravakkam (1), Kodambakkam (2), Adyar (2) and Tondiarpet (1). 327 people have recovered in the city.

The recovered numbers with respect to their areas are as follows:

Manali- 1

Madhavaram- 3

Tondiarpet- 43 (2 recovered yesterday)

Royapuram – 101 (3 recovered yesterday)

Thiru-Vika-Nagar- 53 (2 recovered yesterday)

Anna Nagar- 33 (1 recovered yesterday)

Teynampet- 42

Kodambakkam- 35 (2 recovered yesterday)

Valasaravakkam- 9

Adayar- 10

Alandur- 8

Perungudi- 7

Sholinganallur- 3

Ambattur- 1

Chennai has declared many streets as containment zones as of May 07. They are:

Some zones that were previously declared as containment zones, have not reported any cases in the past 28 days and are hence relieved from the list of containment zones. They are:

அரசியல், விளையாட்டு, நாட்டுநடப்பு, குற்ற சம்பவங்கள், வர்த்தகம், தொழில்நுட்பம், சினிமா, வாழ்க்கை முறை என பலதரப்பட்ட சுவாரஸ்யமான செய்திகளை தமிழில் படிக்க இங்கு கிளிக் செய்யவும்
