India Reports More Than 20,000 COVID-19 Cases While Death Toll Crosses 650; Five States Make Spike Rise!

In the last 24 hours, India recorded 1,486 new cases of the novel coronavirus which has taken the total number of cases in India to 20,000-mark. Looking at the count, which has reached to 20,471, the death toll has climbed to 652. 

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total active cases in India includes 15,859 while 3,958 have either been cured or discharged from which one patient has migrated. 

Highlighting, state-wise stats Maharashtra has the highest number of confirmed cases with a total of 5,221, then comes Gujarat with 2, 272. It has replaced Delhi in the second place as the capital city is now with 2,156. 

Taking a look at the other stats, Rajasthan has 1,801 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,596 and Madhya Pradesh is at 1,592, Uttar Pradesh stands at 1,412 followed by Telangana with 945 and Andhra Pradesh at 813.

Coming to the death toll, there were 49 deaths reported in the last 24 hours; 19 were from Maharashtra, 18 from Gujarat, four from Madhya Pradesh, three from West Bengal, two from Andhra Pradesh and one each from Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, the ministry added.
