India Records More Than 10,000 Coronavirus Cases, While Tamil Nadu Reports 12th Death
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsDespite the country being under lockdown, the total number of coronavirus cases in India has crossed the 10,000-mark with 339 deaths so far. As per the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, 31 people have died and 1,211 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours alone.
This rise in COVID-19 cases takes place hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi can address the nation at 10:00 am. He will be speaking on the nationwide lockdown after requests from states Chief Ministers. So far, 10 states have extended lockdown up to April 30.
Below are the states who have extended the lockdown; Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Maharashtra, Telangana, West Bengal and Karnataka.
Highlighting about Tamil Nadu, a 96 year old man from Dindugal died in Karur at Government Medical College Hospital. The current death toll has touched 12 in the state while the the total number of cases in Tamil Nadu has risen to 1173.
