Man trapped in cold storage rescued after 12-hour struggle, says Police.
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsAs a sigh of relief to a family, a worker in a cold storage who was trapped after a huge iron rack fell on him on Monday night, was rescued on Tuesday.
The incident took place at KRK Cold Storage at Mettupalayam near Avadi where imported apples and oranges are preserved. The four workers who had been trapped inside have been identified as Arif from Uttar Pradesh, Jaarol from Assam and siblings Shayadul Haq and Hayadul Haq from Assam as well.
According to Times of India (ToI) report, at around 7:00 pm on Monday, a rack with 2,000 tonne of fruits packed in cartoon boxes fell on all four workers. An hour after the incident, three among them were rescued but it took 12 hours to rescue Hayadul, who was hid under boxes and iron. Speaking to media sources, a police officer said "it was challenging for us as he was under 2,000 tonne and it was minus degree temperature in the storage unit. His life was at risk and we wanted to help him out. He has suffered injury on his leg and is better now."
Currently, the boy has been admitted in Poonamallee Government Hospital.
