Quarantine Must: Chennai Corporation Announces New Guidelines for COVID-19 Testing
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsThe Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) on Thursday announced that people who undergo the coronavirus test must be placed under a 14 days quarantine, along with their families.
The city corporation announced that if the swab samples are collected, then the person along with their respective family members must be placed under a 14 days quarantine period. GCC Commissioner G Prakash said that such people can seek help from 6,000 workers who are present across the city to help such people.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Chennai has touched 27,398 as of Thursday. Hence, this precautionary method is being undertaken to curb the spread further. Demands grew for a complete lockdown within Chennai, and its neighbouring worst-hit districts such as Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram. However, Dr.Radhakrishnan IAS on Wednesday clarified that no such measure will be taken currently.
Chennai on Thursday recorded 1,407 fresh cases. Further, most of the cases have been recorded only from 6 zones, which are densely populated, such as Royapuram and Thiru.Vi.Ka. Nagar. The testing numbers have increased in the past month, however a spike in death rate was recorded as 23 people lost their lives in the state on Thursday taking the death toll to 349.
