Positive and Recovered COVID-19 cases in Chennai: An Area-wise Break-up; Details Here!

While some areas in Chennai are adversely affected, some other areas which previously showed no signs of infection have just begun reporting cases.
Royapuram is affected the most as 117 people have tested positive, constituting 31% of the total cases reported in Chennai. Following Royapuram is Tondiarpet, where 46 people are infected. 45 people in Thiru-Vika-Nagar, 44 people in Teynampet, 36 people in Kodambakkam, and 32 people in Anna Nagar have tested positive for COVID-19.
In Thiruvottiyur, 13 people have tested positive followed by 10 people from Valasaravakkam, 8 people in Perungudi, 7 cases in and Alandur, and Adyar each. Sholinganallur and Madhavaram have recorded 2 and 3 cases respectively. Within the city limits, Manali and Ambattur which were the only two zones where no cases have now recorded 1 case each.
Totally 373 cases have been reported in Chennai. Apart from the 8 deceased persons, 261 people are hospitalised for treatment and 103 people have recovered in the city. Those recovered include 2 from Thiruvottiyur, 3 from Madhavaram, 4 from Tondiarpet, 28 from Royapuram, 19 from Thiru-Vika-Nagar, 10 from Anna Nagar, 7 from Teynampet, 16 from Kodambakkam, 4 from Valasaravakkam and Adayar, 2 from Alandur, 3 from Perungudi, and 1 from Sholinganallur.
Rapid tests were being conducted using the Rapid Testing kits that arrived in Tamil Nadu, which began at Royapuram on Sunday. However, the kits are not being used now, since ICMR has advised to not use them for testing after faulty results were reported.
The city’s residents are to strictly follow the rules implemented by the authorities, especially those residing in and around the containment zones; to pave way for normalcy to return.
