Chennai: 3 of family suffocate to death after gas leak from AC due to power cut
Home > Tamil Nadu news A family of three in Chennai's Koyambedu died on Monday night after inhaling poisonous gas from their air conditioner. It has been reported that Kalaiarasi, 30, her husband Saravanan, 35, and their son, Karthikeyan, 8, went to sleep with the inverter for their AC switched on after power was lost in the evening.
However, when power was restored later, it caused the AC's cylinder to emanate toxic gas, which lead to the family suffocating to death since no doors nor windows were open, according to the cops.
Neighbours who found something amiss when no family member turned up to collect the day's newspaper or milk packets informed the police, who retrieved the bodies and sent them for post-mortem. An FIR has been registered.
