Elections are being held on the same day for all constituencies in Tamil Nadu except for Vellore, which has been cancelled by the Election Commission on Tuesday.
The voter turnout for Tamil Nadu Lok Sabha elections is 70.90% at 9PM with the highest being Namakkal with 79.75% and the least being Chennai South with 57.43%.
Voter turnout for all the constituencies are as follows: Tiruvallur – 72.02%, Chennai North – 61.76%, Chennai South – 57.43%, Chennai Central – 57.86%, Sriperumbudur – 60.61%, Kancheepuram – 71.94%, Arakkonam – 75.45%, Krishnagiri – 73.89%, Dharmapuri – 75.92%, Tiruvannamalai – 71.27%, Arani – 76.44%, Viluppuram – 74.96%, Kallakurichi – 76.36%, Salem – 74.94%, Namakkal – 79.75%, Erode – 71.15%, Tiruppur – 64.56%, Nilgiris – 70.79%, Coimbatore – 63.67%, Pollachi – 69.98%, Dindigul – 71.13%, Karur – 78.96%, Tiruchirappalli – 71.89%, Perambulur – 76.55%, Cuddalore – 74.42%, Chidamabram – 78.43%, Mayiladuthurai – 71.13%, Nagapattinam – 77.28%, Thanjavur – 70.68%, Sivaganga – 71.55%, Theni – 75.28%, Virudhunagar – 70.27%, Ramanathapuram – 68.26%, Thoothukkudi – 69.41%, Tenkasi – 71.60%, Tirunelveli – 68.09%, Kanyakumari – 62.32% and Madurai – 62.01%.
The overall voter turnout for the 18 assembly bye elections was 71.62% till 9 PM. The highest being Harur with 86.96% and the least being Sattur with 60.87% only. Poonamalle – 79.14%, Perambur – 61.06%, Thiruporur – 81.05%, Sholingur – 79.63%, Gudiyatham – 81.79%, Ambur – 76.35%, Hosur – 71.29%, Pappireddipatti – 83.31%, Harur – 86.96%, Nilakottai – 85.50%, Thiruvarur – 77.38%, Tanjavur – 66.10%, Manamadurai – 71.22%, Andipatti – 75.19%, Periyakulam – 64.89%, Sattur – 60.87%, Paramakkudi – 71.69% and Vilathikulam – 78.06%.
Reportedly Sathyapratha Sahoo has said that “These are the figures compiled till now. Most accurate will be from the Presiding Officers diary compilation which will be available tomorrow evening. That will be the final figure.”
Election commission has released an official press note announcing the completion of phase 2 elections. The counting booths are also announced.
