While some areas in Chennai are adversely affected, some other areas which previously showed no signs of infection have recently been reporting cases.
Thiru-Vika-Nagar continues to be the most affected area in Chennai as it has now reported 395 positive cases, constituting 20% of the total cases reported in Chennai. Following Thiru-Vika-Nagar, is Kodambakkam where 327 people are infected. 321 people in Royapuram, 230 people in Teynampet, 169 people in Anna Nagar, and 149 people in Tondiarpet have tested positive for COVID-19.
146 people from Valasaravakkam and 98 people in Ambattur have tested positive, followed by Adyar, where 53 people have tested positive. Thiruvottiyur has 32 positive cases, Madavaram has recorded 27 cases, 15 cases in Perungudi and 11 cases in Alandur have also been reported. Sholinganallur and Manali has recorded 13 cases each.
284 new cases from across the city have been recorded as of May 06, 8:00am.
Totally 2008 cases have been reported in Chennai and 1652 people are currently hospitalised for treatment. 20 deceased persons are from Royapuram (8), Thiru-Vika-Nagar (3), Anna Nagar (5), Valasaravakkam (1), Kodambakkam (2), and Tondiarpet (1). 327 people have recovered in the city.

Manali- 1 (1 recovered yesterday)
Madhavaram- 3
Tondiarpet- 37 (4 recovered yesterday)
Royapuram – 92 (10 recovered yesterday)
Thiru-Vika-Nagar- 51 (11 recovered yesterday)
Anna Nagar- 30 (8 recovered yesterday)
Teynampet- 39 (13 recovered yesterday)
Kodambakkam- 31 (7 recovered yesterday)
Valasaravakkam- 8 (1 recovered yesterday)
Adayar- 8 (1 recovered yesterday)
Alandur- 8 (2 recovered yesterday)
Perungudi- 7
Sholinganallur- 2
Ambattur- 1
A list of containment zones in Chennai was released by the Greater Chennai Corporation. The list shows hundreds of containment zones that are present within each zone.
