'Age' Rules!: As TASMAC Shops Open Tomorrow, TN Govt Comes Out with New Set of Guidelines for Customers!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsThe Tamil Nadu Government has decided to open the Liquor shops on May 07. In order to avoid chaos and crowding, the government has assigned different timings for different age groups.
Amid the nation-wide lockdown, liquor shops were opened in various states earlier this week. While in many states, people forfeited the rules of social distancing, a few other states managed to contain the crowd. This move has successfully contributed its bit to the economy on one side, as many states made a revenue of 100 crores and above within 24 hours. On the other hand, this move has distressed more people as they are now fearing the spread of the infection.
Tamil Nadu’s neighbouring states such as Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have opened their liquor shops. This has resulted in Tamils transgressing borders to purchase alcohol. In order to restrict this movement and the to regulate the crowds, the TN government has announced that two police officers and 4 officers for security will be present at each liquor shop.
On the basis of age, people can purchase alcohol within the time allocated.
The allocated time is as follows:
50 years and above – 10 am to 1 pm
40 years – 50 years – 1 pm to 3 pm
40 years and less - 3 pm to 5 pm
