5 New Cases of COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu; Positive Cases Rise To 23
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsHours after the first death in Tamil Nadu, State Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar has confirmed five new cases of the deadly coronavirus. He reported this news through a tweet on social media.
In his tweet he said, "#update: 5 news cases of #COVID19 in TN. 4 Indonesian nationals & their travel guide from Chennai test positive at #Salem Medical College. Quarantined since 22.3.20"
While in his earlier tweet, the health minister explained that screened passengers were 2,09,276, Under Followup - 15,492, Current Admissions- 211, Samples Tested - 890 (Negative-757, Positive- 23(1 discharged),Under Process- 110).
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Vijayabaskar broke the news about the death of a Covid-19 positive patient at a state hospital in the wee hours of Wednesday. It was the first death in the state.
The 54-year-old patient died at Rajaji Hospital in Tamil Nadu and "had a medical history of prolonged illness with steroid dependent COPD, uncontrolled diabetes with hypertension".
