Football legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have more followers than Virat. Virat Kohli's Instagram page crossed 200 million followers on Tuesday.
Kohli became the first Indian and third player to achieve this feat after football legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Argentina captain Messi currently has 334 million followers on Instagram, while Portugal captain Ronaldo tops the list with 451 million followers. Brazilian football star Neymar is fourth behind Cole with 175 million followers.
Kohli has achieved this goal despite being in poor form in recent years. He has not even hit an international century since November 2019. In the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL), Kohli scored just 341 runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 16 matches at an average of 22.73 and a strike rate of 115.98.
Kohli resigned as T20 captain after the 2021 T20 World Cup and was later removed from the post of one-day captain. He was replaced by Rohit Sharma as captain.
Kohli also resigned as India's Test captain following the Test series in South Africa, with Rohit replacing him as captain.
Kohli also stepped down as RCB captain after the IPL 2021 season.
