This Indian young bowler breaks Shoaib Akhtar and Brett Lee's record for fastest ball - details!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsThe famous Indian batsman has surpassed Akhtar's record by delivering the fastest ball.
Many talented young players appeared in the 2022 Indian Premier League. Umran Malik, a 22-year-old Sunrisers Hyderabad bowler, has been attacking his opponents with his incredible speed throughout the season. He took 22 wickets this season and finished third in the Purple Cape.
Umran was named in India's squad for the T20I series against South Africa. India meet South Africa on June 9 in the first T20 match of the five-match series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Fast bowler Umran Malik started his training with the Indian team earlier this week and in a video released by the BCCI, Malik talks about his IPL season and India call-up. In it, "When I was selected for India, Dale sir (Stein) was on the team bus with me. Everyone greeted me, Dale Sir said," I told you that India would call you before the IPL series. After the season, it happened, by the grace of God, my current goal now is to give my best for Team India,” - Malik said in the video.
Umran also spoke about his training with India head coach Rahul Dravid and bowling coach Paras Mambre. "I was very happy to meet Rahul. He is a legend of the game. He told me to continue doing what I do now. Paras sir also stood behind me and he guided me through every ball. It gave me a lot of confidence,” said Umran Malik.
During training, Umran Malik threw the ball at a speed of 163.7 km. Related photos are going viral. But it will not get ICC recognition as it is a training match. At the 2003 World Cup against England, Akhtar, who bowled 161.3 km (100.2 mph), is currently the number one bowler. Similarly, Fred Lee bowled very fast during the 2005 ODI against New Zealand in Napier. The recorded speed of the ball is 161.1 kmph (100.1mph).
