Following the conclusion of the ongoing IPL series in India, the South African team is set to tour India and play in a series of 5 T20 matches. Senior players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Bumrah have been rested for the T20 series.

So KL Rahul has been appointed as the captain for this series. The BCCI has recently released the list of Indian players to play in the series. It features young batsmen Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan. Similarly, Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh, who have bowled heavily in the current IPL series, have been included in the Indian squad for the first time.

Also, senior Dinesh Karthik has returned to the Indian team after a long absence. He played for the Bangalore team in the current IPL series and showed excellent performance. Dinesh Karthik was the main reason for the Bangalore team to win many matches. Meanwhile, the absence of Shikhar Dhawan, Rahul Tripathi and Sanju Samson from the Indian squad has come under criticism.

In this context, Suresh Raina has questioned the omission of Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan from the T20 series against South Africa. In it, ‘Obviously, Shikhar would have been disappointed. Every captain wants a player like him in the team. He is a fun-loving person who brightens up the environment. And he has always scored runs – be it domestic, international or T20. If you’ve brought Dinesh Karthik back into the team, Shikhar Dhawan deserved a place too. He has performed well the last 3-4 years and has scored runs non-stop. Somewhere deep down, he must be sad."
