"He is a born leader" - KKR mentor praises this young player!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsKolkata Knight Riders' new captain Shreyas Iyer has been praised by the team's advisor.
The 15th season of the IPL series is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Chennai Super Kings, led by Jadeja, will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders, led by Sreyas Iyer.
With the addition of 2 new teams from Lucknow and Gujarat this year, the players in all the teams were disbanded and a mega IPL auction was held. Shreyas Iyer, who played for Delhi, was auctioned by Kolkata. He was subsequently appointed as the captain of the Kolkata team.
Kolkata team adviser David Hussey has spoken about Shreyas Iyer. He said, "Shreyas is a born leader, just the way he walks around, he commands respect. Knowing Pat (Cummins) really well, he would be a good deputy and would also lead from the front."
“But the way Shreyas has captained in the past for Delhi, he has a very good cricket brain and a nice vision of how to play the game and I think he will express himself really well. I think it’s a smart move from Brendon McCullum and KKR management. He is in rare form at the moment. I don’t know him, I’m getting to know him but he comes across as true leader and a person who knows his game really really well,” he added. David commented on the appointment of Shreyas Iyer as captain, saying that the decision taken by head coach McCullum and the Kolkata team management was correct.
