IPL 2022: "Broke 3-4 remote controls and a few water bottles" - Ricky Ponting! What happened?
Home > News Shots > Sports newsThe Delhi Capitals, led by youngster Rishabh Pant, have played seven matches in the current IPL series.
Of these, Delhi, which has won only 3 matches, is 7th in the points table.
The Delhi Capitals will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders tomorrow (28.04.2022) in their next match against Rajasthan.
No Ball Controversy
The Rajasthan team set a target of 223 and the Delhi team added an impressive run from the start. However, a few wickets fell in the last over, creating a difficult environment for the Delhi team to win.
In the last over, Powell, who was on the field, threw the first three balls for a six as Delhi needed 36 runs to win. Thus, the Delhi fans were somewhat excited. The Delhi Capitals then complained that the umpire refused to give the third ball - a No Ball to Powell for a six.
Similarly, the team's captain Rishabh Pant called on the batsmen to come out. Also, one of the Delhi coaches went directly to the field and appealed to the umpire. The match was suspended for a few minutes and action was taken against Rishabh Pant and others for violating the rules. In this match, Delhi team lost by 15 runs.
Frustrated Ricky Ponting
Watching the entire match from the hotel room, here's how Ricky Ponting reacted. A member of Ricky Ponting's family has been in solitary confinement for five days after suffering from a corona infection. Thus, when the Delhi and Rajasthan teams clashed, Ricky Ponting did not come to the ground.
Talking about watching the match from the living room, Ricky Ponting said, "It was frustrating. I think I broke three or four remote controls and a few bottles of water might have got thrown into the walls and things like that (laughs)."
Hope to be back ..
“When you’re on the sidelines, being a coach and you can’t control what’s happening out in the middle, that’s hard enough, but when you’re not actually at the ground, it can get a little more frustrating. I am sending text messages every over, do this do that, things like that. I know we’re so close to turning it all around. We’ve all got to trust, we’ve got to believe, we’ve got to stay upbeat and positive. And if we are, things will definitely change for us."
“I feel pretty relieved to be back outside again, actually after another five days locked in, and missing the game. Things didn’t go well in the game, we had a drama at the end. But, it’s nice to be back outside again,” he added.
The 8th Behindwoods Gold Medals Awards will be held this year on May 15 and 22 at the Island Grounds in Chennai from 6pm to 11.30pm. Ticket booking for this is currently underway. Event ticket pre-booking link .. https://behindwoods.com/bgm8
