The 4th league match of the IPL series was played yesterday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The two newcomers, the Gujarat Titans and the Lucknow Super Giants, clashed.

Batting first, Lucknow scored 158 for 6 in 20 overs. Following this, Gujarat won by 161 runs in 19.4 overs. Rahul Tewatia top-scored with 40, followed by captain Hardik Pandya with 33, wicketkeepers Matthew Wade and David Miller with 30 each.

11 years after this position, an Australian player has made a re-entry in the IPL series by playing for the Gujarat Titans. Australian cricketer Matthew Wade played for the Delhi Daredevils in the 2011 IPL. He did not get a chance in that series because he showed bad play then.

No team picked him up in the subsequent IPL auction. It was in this context that Matthew Wade put on an outstanding performance in the recently concluded T20 World Cup series. Matthew Wade in particular was the main reason for the team to beat Pakistan in the semi-finals and advance to the final. So he was picked by the Gujarat Titans in the IPL auction.

In this situation, Matthew Wade, who played in the first match of the IPL series after many years, faced 29 balls and scored 30 runs with 4 fours.
