The 3rd league match of the IPL series was played at the Mumbai ground yesterday. Punjab captain Mayank Agarwal won the toss and elected to bowl first, Bangalore scored 205 for 2 in 20 overs. Captain Du Plessis top-scored with 88, Virat Kohli with 41 and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik with 32.
Batting next, Punjab scored 208 for 5 in 19 overs. Punjab beat Bangalore by 5 wickets. Shikhar Dhawan and Rajapaksa top-scored with 43 and Mayank Agarwal 42 respectively. Odeon Smith, who was the 7th man to score 25 off 8 balls, was instrumental in Punjab's victory.
Raj Bawa, the youngest batsman to make his debut in this match, was dismissed with the first ball that he faced. When he returned to the pavilion, Captain Mayank Agarwal consoled him on the head and shoulders. This photo has been released on the Internet and is gaining attention among fans.
Raj Bawa was part of the Indian team in the recently concluded Under-19 World Cup series. It is noteworthy that he caught everyone's attention by scoring the fastest hundred in the tournament.
