IPL 2022: Faf du Plessis opens up on MS Dhoni returning as captain!

Du Plessis has opened up for the first time about Dhoni taking over as captain of CSK again.

Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore will clash in the 49th league match of the IPL today (04.05.2022). Du Plessis has played for the CSK team for the last 10 years under the leadership of Captain Dhoni. In this context, he is going to lead Bangalore to Du Plessis against Dhoni in today's match.

Initially, Dhoni had stepped down as captain of the Chennai Super Kings in the current IPL series. This was followed by the team's all-rounder Jadeja taking over as the new captain. Under his leadership, CSK played 8 matches and won only 2. So Jadeja was severely criticized. Jadeja said he would hand over the captaincy to Dhoni again.

Following this, Dhoni resumed captaincy from the recently concluded match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. CSK won the match by 13 runs.

Now, Du Plessis has spoken about Dhoni's re-appointment as the captain of the CSK team, "I am surprised that it’s happened in-season. I am also surprised that it happened the way that it did in the start of the season. So the two surprises almost canceling each other out."

"So obviously, there is no secret there. I think when MS is there, when he is captain, he does get the best out of the players. That’s been a big part of CSK’s success. That’s a big challenge for us, we have to make sure that’s not a factor today (Wednesday)."
